The War on Iraq has already led to widespread protests… and widespread complaints that the protesters are either deluded or traitors. A quick look at American history will show this is nothing new. Every American war has faced a vocal antiwar movement, and every American antiwar movement has faced charges of disloyalty and cowardice.

There are as many reasons for making peace as there are for making war. Antiwar protestors have traditionally acted from a variety of motivations, noble and otherwise. Many of these peacemakers have been forgotten by history, while those who are remembered have often been judged unfairly.
